About This Weather Station
This station is powered by a TempestOne weather system. The data is collected every two minutes, by an open source weather system called WeeWX. The weather station itself is running as a virtual machine, and collects the data via API directly from the Tempest Weatherflow website. This website is updated every 3 minutes using a Cumulus "plugin" which creates a realtime data file that is used to provide the data points that you see here.
About Mount Shasta Ski Park!
The park originally opened higher on the volcano of Mount Shasta, but after a few avalanches and fires that took out the lifts, and the lodge they moved lower. Todays location opened in 1985, and has changed hands of few times. Mount Shasta is the second largest mountain in the Cascade range at 14,162’, and the second southern most volcano of the range.
The parks base has an elevation of 5,500 feet and a summit elevation of 7800 at Gray Butte. The park is able to make snow on 65 % of the trails. The park has a total of 425 acres of skiable terrain, with 32 conventional trails. However, this park also offers backcountry terrain, 360 acres of it, and a reservable backcountry cabin. Mostly intermediate trails, but plenty of beginner and advanced trails as well. There are 5 lifts, two are moving carpets, and 3 are triple chairs. Mt Shasta Ski Park also has two terrain parks, a tubing hill, and the longest bar in northern California.
